My boyfriend, John, gave me this penguin plushie to commemorate our third month as lovers. During lunch, he was talking about being idealistic in his career and taking his chosen path despite a lack of support from the people he values.
That idealism became apparent to me early on. What's great about him is that he finds practical ways to reach that ideal. He's a hard and smart worker. So disciplined and methodical.
I myself have gone against the flow in certain aspects of my life. Like having my first truly official boyfriend at the ripe old age 43. I am your quintessential late bloomer.
It's only now that I get to enjoy holding hands while walking, exchanging cheesy messages, fighting and reparing — deeply wanting to repair after knowingly hurting the other.
One of our disagreements in the past was about the use of sex toys. John is against, while I am pro. (Am I over-sharing here? I don't care, nobody reads this blog.) Well, we can say that he's already switched sides as he laughed out loud when I said Papa P(enguin) will get really sticky wet tonight.
